Civil Engineers

Civil engineers are known for surveying, which may include land surveying or construction surveying. Different types of engineers include geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, transportation engineers, hydraulic engineers and environmental engineers.

The minimum degree required to land a position as a civil engineer is a four year bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. Some civil engineers end up working for the government, while others become employed at construction, consulting and architectural organizations. Civil engineers are often responsible for designing constructions soon to take place. This includes mass transit, roads, dams, tunnels, buildings and sometimes even water supply or sewage systems.

Mathematics and natural sciences are widely incorporated in the studies of civil engineering students and researchers. Civil engineering is perhaps the broadest of all types of engineers. Civil engineers play an important role in the process of several different types of infrastructures.
